We Never Know

>> Tuesday, January 25, 2011

In this morning’s paper, an article told of a young woman jumping out a 23rd story window. She must have really wanted to die. But apparently it just wasn’t her time. She landed on the roof of a taxi (she was in a seated position) and has been taken to a hospital with broken hips and internal injuries. If she thought her life was bad before … it just got worse.

A few summers ago, three young women had attended a concert at the Gorge and were on their way back to Seattle. Rocks fell on their car and killed all three of them. Apparently it was their time.

And in Germany, a family I love has lost their Grandma … one who was in good health, active, and still lived alone at the age of 89. She went to bed and never woke up. It was her time.

I attended a funeral yesterday. The man had been hospitalized … and then began improving … sitting up and eating. Before bedtime he was gone. His time had arrived.

Death is like that. We never know when it will show up. I want to live each day to the fullest … with my soul ready … and my heart looking forward to my future.
