It’s that time of year again.

Even though the ground is covered with snow, we believe spring is coming…and so it’s time to think about preliminary yard work. Last year…against the scoffing of naysayers…I used a product to prevent weeds…Preen. Several people told me it wouldn’t work. And I had used it before…but failed to follow the directions correctly. Therefore, the product had not lived up to its promise.

You see it is designed to stop weeds from germinating. If you wait until the weeds already exist, it will not kill them. Last year, I spread those little granules all around long before any green was poking up through the dirt.

It worked. Just as it states on the container, my beds stayed neat and weed-free all season long.

There is a Product designed to keep us weed free. But we need to use as directed. Once that little weed sticks its head up, then it is much harder to control and eliminate. Daily, we need to check out our thought life and actions…and sprinkle prayer and God’s word all around long before a thistle rears its ugly head in our life.

“Keep a sharp eye out for weeds of bitter discontent. A thistle or two gone to seed can ruin a whole garden in no time.” Hebrews 12:15 (MSG)

Everyone here has the sense that right now is one of those moments when we are influencing the future. See the link below for more info.

I'm lucky because now I've got a whole new view on this. I didn't realize that this issue was so important and so universal.
